Private driver to Auron, the station-village
Auron is a station-village in the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée, at around 1,600 metres. You reach it up the Tinée valley, and you rarely stay at a single address: a residence, a chalet, a hotel or the village centre. That is what makes the exact address useful, and a booked transfer practical.
A station-village, so several addresses
Auron is not a resort stranded at the end of a road: it is a village-resort belonging to the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée, and it lives outside the winter season too. Stays are in residences, chalets or hotels, with addresses spread between the centre and the upper parts of the resort.
In practice, "Auron" is not enough to arrange a pick-up: give the name of the residence or the property, and the street if you have it. The driver waits at the agreed point, which saves circling a resort served by only a few roads.
- Residences, chalets and hotels: the property name beats a bare "Auron".
- The resort centre: an exact address is asked for.
- Auron belongs to the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée, whose village lies further down the valley.
The road up the Tinée valley
From the Riviera, Auron is reached up the Tinée valley, on a mountain road that climbs steadily. In winter, and whenever the weather turns, access can change: a snow-covered or wet road, heavy traffic at departure times, or a route under restriction.
We do not publish journey times: they depend on your starting point, the season and the traffic. What is certain is that a mountain destination asks for more anticipation than a run along the coast, and that checking road conditions before setting off is worth the minute it takes.
A destination that lives outside the season too
Winter is the busiest period, but Auron is an inhabited village-resort visited all year: second homes, family stays, appointments down in the valley. The service is the same at those times — booked in advance, with the price known before you travel.
For a stay, planning the way up and the way down is usually the useful part: a one-way from Nice, a return arranged a few days later, or a same-day round trip for an appointment.
Skis, snowboards and bulky luggage
The car takes up to four passengers, with luggage capacity stated as a guide. We do not guarantee a particular capacity for skis or snowboards: how many pairs can come along depends on the passengers and on the rest of the luggage.
If you are travelling with skis, snowboards or particularly bulky luggage, contact us before confirming so we can check what is available for your journey. Looking for a taxi between Nice and Auron? Find Your Driver offers a pre-booked private-driver journey — we are not a taxi service and we do not pick people up from the street.

Isola
Isola village sits in the upper Tinée valley, at around 875 metres. It is not the resort: Isola 2000 is a different place, much higher up, in the same commune. So the first thing to settle before booking is simple — are you going to the village, or to the resort?
Isola 2000
Isola 2000 is an altitude resort at around 2,000 metres, distinct from Isola village lower down in the valley. A transfer to the resort is therefore prepared with two things: the name of your residence or building, and a little room on the timing.

Auron: common questions
- Are Auron and Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée the same place?
- No. Auron is a station-village belonging to the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée; the commune’s village is further down, in the Tinée valley. So give "Auron" along with your accommodation address if that is where you are going.
- What should I give for a pick-up in Auron?
- The name of the residence, chalet or hotel, and the street if you have it. The resort is served by only a few roads, so an exact address saves the driver a search and saves you waiting in the wrong place.
- Can I travel with skis or bulky luggage?
- The car takes up to four passengers, but we do not guarantee a set capacity for skis or snowboards: it depends on the passengers and the rest of the luggage. Contact us before confirming and we will check what is possible for your journey.
- What if the road conditions change?
- In the mountains the road surface and the traffic can change quickly, and some routes are seasonal. We do not promise a journey time: check road conditions before leaving and allow some room, especially during school holidays.
